The End

I miss real summer vacations.

This mini-vacation I’ve been on has been amazing. Even though most of it was full of packing and moving and unpacking, it was really nice to just be here on my days off. Usually any days off I take are full of traveling and being away and getting up early and staying up late and it’s exhausting.

This week was just relaxing and adventuring and being lazy and I loved every minute of it.

I’m not looking forward to waking up early, to getting on the subway and traveling an hour to work, to opening my Outlook to a million and twelve unread emails.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my job. I’m excited to see everyone again, find out what they’ve been up to over the past week. But I liked walking to Starbucks at 11am and watching television and reading and going over my friend’s apartment to play Kings or watch movies.

I realize that I can still do all of these things. It’s just going to be annoying to have 12 hours of my weekdays taken away from me. Plus hours I need to sleep. Annoying.

In a perfect world, I would be paid to write. I would write a novel and publish it and have it make money for me while I write other things. And walk to Starbucks at 11am and watch television and read and go over my friend’s apartment to play Kings or watch movies.

Funny thing is, I feel like this dream is fairly attainable. I mean, it would be a miracle if I wrote a novel that anyone would ever pay money for, but if by some chance I was struck with a lightning bolt of genius and magically inherited better writing skills, I could be a writer and make my own schedule.

Now all I need is an idea…and some writing classes…oh yeah…and an attention span.

Hm.
